Director General of the Georgian Railway David Peradze hosted the delegation of Chinese Railway.

The parties discussed issues of deepening bilateral cooperation.

The Georgian side introduced the possibilities of the Georgian railway to the colleagues. The discussion at the meeting touched on the project of modernization of the main railway line Tbilisi –  Makhinjauri, after the completion of which the Georgian railway capacity will increase even more, and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars direction, which will also contribute to the increase of cargo shipments.

As the representatives of the Chinese railway delegation noted, Georgia has an important place in the implementation of the Chinese President’s initiative “One Belt – One Road”. According to them, the main goal is to use the opportunities of the middle corridor as much as possible.

During the meeting, the Chinese side expressed its desire to join the joint venture Middle Corridor Multimodal created by the railways of Georgia, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan for effective coordination of container shipments from China in the Middle Corridor, transparency of tariffs and establishment of a stable system to which the Director General of the Georgian Railway expressed his full support.
