The "Middle corridor" developing possibilities were discussed in China

Natia Turnava, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia together with the delegation is in China where she met with Chinese Minister of Transport Li Xiaopeng. David Peradze, the Director General of the Georgian Railway is in the official delegation. At the meeting of the ministers, special attention was paid to the development of transport links, including the “One Belt – One Road” initiative.

It was noted at the meeting, that the Government of Georgia is particularly interested in further development of  multimodal railway transportation and increasing the intensity of regular block trains through the Transcaspian International Route, the same Middle Corridor. In this regard, running of regular trains from Lianyungang Port to Istanbul is a step forward in the development of the middle corridor.

Speaking of measures aimed at popularizing the middle corridor, the focus was on launching a direct container ship to Ukraine, initiated by the Georgian Railway, as well as regular feeder line launching  between the ports of Constantsa (Romania) and Batumi.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to create a permanent working group that will actively expand the capabilities of the corridor.
