The Georgian Railway is changing tariffs for double-decker passenger trains running to Tbilisi-Batumi

Dear passengers!

The Georgian Railway is changing tariffs for double-decker passenger trains running to Tbilisi-Batumi.

The objective reasons for the increase in tariffs in recent years are significantly increased costs for electricity, for the maintenance and storage of trains, materials and other expenses. For many years JSC Georgian Railway did not change the tariffs, and the company used its own funds to subsidize passenger transportation. It should be noted that the alternative transport tariffs were increased systematically and despite the increase in the fare, the cost of travel by rail is still cheaper compared to the alternative one.

From July 25, the fare for double-decker trains running to Tbilisi-Batumi-Tbilisi is as follows:

  1. Second class – 34 GEL;
  2. First class – 74.00 GEL;
  3. Business class – 124 GEL;

Determining fares by seat categories (class) gives passengers an additional choice.

We also inform you that the cost of travel by passenger trains running to Tbilisi-Poti, Zugdidi, Ozurgeti and Kutaisi has remained unchanged. All benefits for mainline electric trains for students, war veterans and railway workers remain in force. There also a 50% child rate for children up to 10 years for all categories of seats in passenger trains. Also a 5-year-old child can travel free of charge with a passenger if he doesn’t take a separate seat.
