Head of the General Directorate for Transport and Mobility of European Commission has met CEO of the JSC “Georgian Railway”
Head of the General Directorate for Transport and Mobility of European Commission Henrik Holoei is on official visit to Georgia to develop and deepen cooperation between the EU and Georgia.
Within the scope of the visit, Henrik Hololei and David Peradze CEO of the JSC “Georgian Railway” met today.
At the meeting, the parties discussed paramount issues concerning JSC “Georgian Railway” and the country’s economy development, including the Europe-Asia transport corridor development and related achievements and challenges.
“It is an important meeting, as it aims to develop cooperation between the EU and Georgia. We discussed transport corridor development possibilities and the ongoing projects currently being implemented by the Georgian Railways. We also talked about the Implementation status of the of obligations in the railway sector within the framework of the Association Agreement between the EU and Georgia, ” – declared David Peradze, CEO of JSC “Georgian Railway”.
In the frames of the meeting, the parties also discussed the current important projects in JSC ”Georgian Railway”:
Modernization of Tbilisi-Makhinjauri main line and within it
construction works provided for the Moliti-Kharagauli railway section;
Provision of container transportation;
State regulation of passenger rail transport;
Introduction of new signalling-centralization-blocking new systems;
Tomorrow, the first meeting of the EU-Georgia High Level Dialogue on Transport is planned. The visit of the Head of the General Directorate for Transport and Mobility of European Commission to Georgia will end on January 30.
