Georgian Railway starts working on gender issues with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)
The Georgian Railway and the College of Railway Transport start a new initiative with the support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The aim of the project is to promote equal opportunities and women’s strengthening in the railway sector. The presentation was held with the participation of partners involved in the field of transport and education. Director General of the Georgian Railway, David Peradze, made a speech at the event.
“Equal opportunities in the railway sector of Georgia and strengthening the technical skills of young people” is a two-year project, within the framework of which will be created both new and updated professional short-term educational programs of the College of Railway Transport.
In addition, to better realize the principles of gender equality in the Georgian railway, policy and procedures for the management of human resources will be developed taking into account gender aspects. The action plan for equal opportunities reflects all the steps taken by the company to improve gender equality.
The project is part of the railway modernization program financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and will be implemented by the French company AETS with the participation of foreign and local experts.
