Another six-way meeting of multimodal route CASCA+ was held in Batumi
Another six-way meeting of the multimodal route CASCA+ was held in Batumi, organized by the Georgian Railway. The heads of the railway administrations of Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Turkey discussed the indicators of recent shipments, current challenges and prospects for future development and route expansion.
At the working meeting, the Georgian Railway presented a new route development strategy, according to which, by saving additional costs and resources, transportation conditions will be improved and fast and continuous communication between the parties will be implemented. The presented reorganization plan was approved by the participants of the meeting and further steps for the realization of the plan were set.
At the initiative of the Georgian side, in order to develop a single penetrating tariff of the multimodal route and to optimize the shipping time, for the first time during the existence of the international multimodal route, the closed joint-stock company “Azerbaijan Caspian Sea Shipping Company” – ASCO, which operates on the Baku-Turkmenbashi sea section, participated in the working meeting. Both by ferry and feeder ships. By joint decision, an agreement with the sea carrier will be prepared and signed in the near future.
At the working meeting, the parties unanimously approved the proposal on the expediency of joining the railways of other countries (Tajikistan, Romania and Bulgaria) on the mentioned route.
