Georgian Railway appoints regular container block trains four times a week in the Poti-Tbilisi-Poti direction

Georgian Railway appoints regular container block trains four times a week in the Poti-Tbilisi-Poti direction.

Block trains will operate according to a predetermined schedule – they will depart from Poti at 21:30 and arrive in Tbilisi at 09:47.

As a result, cargo owners will be able to deliver containers from the port to Tbilisi in the shortest possible time, regardless of the filling of the block train with containers.

The cargo owner will know in advance the time of shipment and delivery of the container to the terminal.

This service is of great importance for Georgian Railway customers, since shipping lines give customers a specific deadline for the return of the container.

New service will help shift empty container transportation from Poti to Tbilisi and back from trucks to railways, which, on the one hand, will significantly relieve road traffic, and on the other hand, will cause less damage to the environment.

The first block train entered Tbilisi Dry Port today. It was met by the Director General of Georgian Railway, the Head of Freight Transportation, the founder of Dry Port, and the Director of MSC Georgia.

The parties noted that this is a simplified logistics service for cargo owners, who will receive containers in Tbilisi and Poti without delays within a specified time.
